Wedding Series // Bridal makeup: The soft neutral look

Hi everyone,
The word is out : I'm getting married next year in may, that's why I'm starting 'The wedding series' here on my blog. I will take you along on my quest to find the perfect makeup look and skincare. Next year, a little bit closer to the due date, I will also share my venue, decoration ideas and lots more!
I hope you will be as excited as me to follow me along on this journey!

When it comes to makeup, I find it easier to work on clients as a makeup artist than creating a look for myself. That's why I'll be creating different potential looks here on the blog and sharing it with you.

You don't want to overdo it with the makeup on your big day neither do you want your makeup to be barely there. Here are my tips & tricks to create the perfect neutral, soft makeup look.

1/ Even when you opt for a neutral makeup look, go a bit heavier I always say! There will be lots of photography moments and makeup always fades on camera. My tip? take photo's of your bridal look and see how it comes across on camera.

2/ use a primer/ foundation that will last all day. Take a little bit of that foundation to fill a contact lens pot. The foundation bottle is too large to take with you, but the contact lenses pots don't take up that much space. That way you can do touch ups later in the evening.  (You can even opt to put a tiny beauty blender in the other side)

3/ When it comes to new makeup products or skincare, test it a few months ahead of your big day! You do not want to have a reaction close to the big day.

4/ finding a perfect neutral eyeshadow shade is hard: there are so many options out there. You have to  choose between warm tones and neutral tones, shiny or matte. I opted for a shiny metallic amber shade by Sisley because it's one of those shades which makes the blue of my eyes really pop.

5/ I will use individual lashes on my big day.  However I didn't use lashes to create this makeup look because I wanted to show you just how good the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Lash Multi Effects in black is.

6/ lipstick! The nude shade options are endless. I know that personally a pink shade of neutral lipstick suits me best, that's why the Estée Lauder Hi-Lustre in 120 Naked Ambition is the perfect shade. This is however a lustre lipstick and we all know that those won't stay all night. So, here's my tip to make it last all night! after applying 1 coat, apply some translucent finishing powder on top, that way you create the perfect base for when the lipstick fades during the evening. Apply a final layer on top to get the lustre back!
